Kitchen cabinet stain. Staining is a great way to get a fresh new real wood look to your kitchen cabinets you just can t get with paint. All it takes is a little elbow grease and you ll have a whole new look for your kitchen. For the second sanding use 220 grit sandpaper.
Before you stain the cabinets it s important to remove all the doors and drawers to make sanding and applying the stain easier. Use a small piece of painter s tape on the door backs to label their placement. It s easy and convenient and almost fool proof as a diy project.
Dip the rag into the stain and gently apply it to the cabinets in a back and forth motion. Take off the old finish. Do not go over an area for the second time until the entire cabinet door is coated with one coat.
Apply the stain to one surface at a time wait five minutes or so then wipe it off with a clean white cotton cloth. If you want the stain to be darker apply more stain and wipe again. Kraftmaid provides a wide variety of finishes for your kitchen cabinets to influence your design.
Then lightly sand the worn area going only with the grain. If you happen to get the stain on clothing use this time to remove it. Use small zip top bags to identify hardware.
